Sam and Cat Wiki
This is a community blog. It contains important information that all members of the community should be informed about or participate in.

Hey everyone,

I am informing about our new procedures for user rights.

The page most of this activity will take place on is Sam and Cat Wiki:Administration/Nominations.

Chat Mods and Rollbacks[]

We will have an ongoing page to request/nominate for chat mod or rollback rights. It'll be labelled as open/closed depending on whether or not we are in need of those users.

When the section is open, users may nominate themselves or other users for mod/rollback rights and there will be an approximately 3 day period for current members of the administration team to support or oppose the nomination, and at the end of that period, an admin or bureaucrat will either honor or deny the nomination.

When closed, users may still request/nominate, and the administration can still place the support or opposition as it is when the section is open, but the user will not be promoted until the section is open.

Admins and Bureaucrats[]

Admin and bureaucrat selection will be based on a community discussion vote. It will also be either closed or open.

When open, the existing admins/bureaucrats will put up a list of users who are current chat mods and rollbacks who they find qualified for the administrative position and the entire community will get a say in supporting or opposing the promotion. After a duration of a week or two, the bureaucrats will examine the votes and determine which candidate has the greatest support (not just quantity of supports, but also strength of the arguments) and promote that user.

When closed, nothing will take place in that section.

Demotions[]

The existing administrative staff will be demoted for inactivity or any other failures to hold up the administrative standard written on the administration page. If you believe a user should be demoted, post on the administrator's noticeboard or directly talk to a current admin or bureaucrat about it.
